I did the Vatican tour on Saturday afternoon April 5, 2008 and must say that it was conducted with a level of professionalism and excellence that exceeded my expectations. Our guide Ryan was simply outstanding in the way he interacted with the group and directed the details of the tour. I was truly amazed at the depth of his knowledge, his highly articulate presentation style and his willingness to patiently answer a variety of questions by the group. Presto tours were a great find and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top quality touring experience in Rome.

Presto Tours offer tours of various places in Italy, including a 3-hour group tour of the Vatican and St Peter's in Rome. The tour was led by a fantastic guide with a masters in art history, so she was hugely knowledgable and her enthusiasm could get anyone interested in the subject. The tour is really worth the money as you skip the long queues to get in and also learn a huge amount whilst you're in there. I've been to the Vatican before without doing a tour and the two experiences don't compare. Only slight downside is the lack of administration support (the confirmation email took ages to arrive and the office phones went unanswered for 3 days) but this is small detail in light of the excellent tour once you're there.

Our tour of the Vatican with our guide, Ryan, was the best tour we have ever been on anywhere. Ryan had an excellent command of the subject, and connected the historical dots for us in a way that we understood the subject as well as was possible in three hours. We will again use Presto when in Rome.

I can't remember how we came to choose Presto - just found it on the web I think but are we glad we did. I was a bit sceptical about the vatican, thought it would be too religiousy but the enthusiasm and knowledge, coupled with a quirky sense of humour that was perfect for the occasion of Maya our guide made it a wonderful experience. Her knowledge of history was shared with boundless enthusiasm and by the time we reached different parts, especially the Sistine Chapel, we knew what to look for and how to get the most from our visit. Would we ever have appreciated how Michelangelo's style changed as he painted the ceiling ? Maybe but probably not. Thanks for a great tour and fabulous memories.
