Booked this hotel online for its location and price. The pictures on the website looked fabulous. We weren't disappointed with the location, we walked absolutely everywhere. However, there is a reason the price is so low. The main part of the hotel, where reception is, looked quite nice. However, we were transported a few blocks away to another part of the hotel. The room was quite big but there was chipped paint and cracked walls. The room was dirty. The bathroom was old. There was one window in the bathroom nailed shut that looked out onto a "balcony" that was filled with old, broken furniture. On our second night there, we were awakened by someone banging loudly on another door and screaming in Italian. Don't know what this was about but it went on periodically through the night. On our last morning, we got up very early to catch our flight and all the staff members were eating breakfast outside the rooms. I had suspicions that this annexe of the hotel was actually staff quarters as I didn't really see anyone else there who appeared to be a guest. All in all, we had a great location but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone or stay there again myself. I'd rather pay the extra money for a decent place.

Booked this hotel because of location, price, and photos on web site. Got moved to "Annex" 8 block away, where there were bugs, dirt, and no luxury. Bed broke during the night, had to unplug min-frig to turn on lamp, toilet seat broken, no drinking glass, phone did not work. Worse yet when we complained they said the could not move us, and if we left we still had to pay. Well we left, and they took our money for next three nites. No refund. Please becareful what you book on the internet.

My daughter and I stayed here at the beginning of July. Fortunately we were only staying for the one night, but the only recommendation I can offer is, don't stay here. We had travelled up from Sorrento in the morning, so we were pleased to have arrived at the hotel. It looks OK from the outside and, to be fair, the reception area is quite nice. When we booked in we were taken out of the main entrance and round the side of the building, through a wrought iron gate (accessed via a buzz box), up some stone stairs (because the lift wasn't operating), through a heavy metal doorway (accessed with a swipe card) and into a dining area. We were then led past a kitchen to our room. It was dark because the metal shutters were locked down, and stuffy because you couldn't open the windows. They had provided an air conditioning unit which was so noisy, we had trouble sleeping. The bed had old fashioned metal bedsteads and rocked when it was pushed, the second bed was a low z-bed - the sort you use for unexpected guests. The bedcover had a stain on it. The sheets, fortunately, were clean. The floor had suffered from, what we were told was a "water problem" and the laminate had lifted by about 2" and to prevent any guest taking their toes off when walking across the room, the had covered it with a heavy, but dirty rug.

We were expecting to fly out of Rome early the following morning or else I would have kicked up a stink, but we were both so hot and tired that we just went out for the evening. We didn't even shower because it looked so unpleasant.

Two people trying to get hold of me had contacted the hotel and left messages, but I got neither of these.

We will certainly not be returning to this hotel.

My advice to anyone wishing to stay at this hotel is to definately beware you never know what you're going to expect. We had a group of 4 staying for only one night and had booked 2 double rooms. When we arrived the manager at the reception told us she had some electrical problems on the second floor and the only room she had available was the "apartment", but she assured us she would give us a great deal. We were all a little nervous as some of the reviews on this B&B were not good.

While we waited 25 mins for the hotel car to pick us up and take us 10 blocks down the road we really started to panic. I can tell you that the "apartment" is nothing at all like the wonderful pictures on the website. The only good point was how large it was and it had a full kitchen, with 2 beds & 1 pull out couch- (one of the beds was up in the loft that was super hot because the air conditioning had not been on). There were 2 bathrooms, but no marble to found anywhere the bathrooms looked like old closets that were converted into bathrooms. One of the toliets made this terrible noise when it was flushed- like a monster coming up to get you. All I was thinking as I lay on the saggy pull out couch, in the middle of the kitchen that had no curtains on the window was, "when is it morning so I can leave"

I would definately advise anyone that is planning on staying here is to be cautious. This place really is a glorified reception area and the manager is not pleasent at all!

“rather a cheat”

Relais Group Vaticano Luxury

We have just returned from a 3 day break at the Relais Vaticano in Rome, We had a fantasic holiday in Rome ! but found this hotel to be rather a cheat, It is not an Hotel but just a grand looking reception with desk only from which you are taken to apartments dotted around in other buildings, as is the breakfast room, This was O.K., clean and good breakfast etc, and we did not let it spoil our holiday. I had booked this hotel because of the reasonable price and its proximity to Lepanto Metro station but found that because they are working on this line it closes down at 9 -o-clock every evening and probable will for a couple of years! We arrived at Mid day and were not allowed into our rooms untill after 7 in the evening.
