Hi, I am female New Yorker from Jamicia Queens just got back from Rome, Italy on May 1st of 2005. Had a wonderful time and would go back again, my hotel was Blu Hotel, 5 Largo Domencico 5 Rome --- for located not in the center of Rome, but 2 stops away from the
Turbini Station on the B line and 4 stops away from Termini which is a centre located area. The hotel is clean very new, good service, mini bar in
room, balcony rooms, great breadfast, consisting of the usuall, eggs, cheese, danish, yougurt, rolls, ceral, juices, coffee, tea, ect. Staff speaks
english and very help ful. The only problem I had was with getting messages from the front desk, always said I did not have any messages
but in fact I did. My room was room 232, from April 21-May1.
If you are arriving from FCO airport the taxi fare should be only betw E55 to
E60's, but you can take the train from the airport to the Hotel, the F1 is
about 5 euros and get off at the Turbini station, and take the 409 bus or
the 595 bus to the hotel its like 5 to 6 minutes, the stop is right front of the hotel, The hotel is face inside a paking area so you really have to pay attention at 1st for you do see the Blu sign and its gated in. The metro fare
is 1 Euro for 75minutes once you validate your card at the turnstyle. Their are a few clubs in walking distance, and a pub/bar. Also in the hotel lobby is a bar. From the hotel you can walk 5 to 8 minutes to the Turbini station,
and take the train again 4 stops to Termini and from their follow your guide.
This hotel is affordable and very clean. But again not centre but can get to the Centre. BUT BUT BUT PLEASE PLEASE WATCH YOUR POCKETS, THEY PICK POCKET HERE LIKE ITS GOING OUT OF STYLE. It did not happend to me they tried but I am from NY so I refuse to let that happedn to me. But watch out for this. It is very easy to get from city to city, the information booth is in each station, if you are going over to the next city its better to find out the schudule for the train the day before. You can take the IC train which is the local, like 11/2 hours later arrival than the EuroStar. The IC is cheaper than the Eurostar but go to the same places. from Rome to Naples is 3 hours on the IC, and from Florence to Veneice is 31/2hours Eurostar. from Rome to Pomeii is 21/2 or 3 hours I forgot but not long nice ride very interesting and historical in the Old Pomeii. Where comfortable shoe please for the entire trip. We had beautiful wheather the whole time. Well I hope this helps I know its long, but I am trying to give whatever I learned to others. I am not expert just what I learned. Hope this helps.

We stayed in Blu Hotel Roma for 5 days at the end of March (with a tour operator). The hotel is new, 4 stars, so very tidy and practical. Our room was quite spacious with twin beds (bad point for a romantic staying!) and shower, TV (cable wasnt well tuned so we had only Italian channels). Pleasant equipment (toilets, hot water of course, fridge with mini-bar, towels changed everyday).
We had no real contact with the staff. They were not over-friendly. Breakfast was a buffet, correct but with nothing remarkable. Our room had a balcony but with a stupid view over a parking. It was also calm.
Everything would be alright with this hotel if the environment was as neutral as the hotel itself : the Blue Hotel Roma is 10minutes walk from Tiburtina Station, one of the main Roman stations, with direct trains to the Airport and 6 stations to the Colosseo, a direct bus to Vatican etc.
The worst point is you have to cross a large and awful industrial landscape to reach the hotel from the station : walk a bridge through the motorway and go along a long awful road with many cars, some homeless settlements and so on. The zone looked safe to us but it is really a pity when you come from the center with glitter in the eyes (to get yourself imprisonned in such a gloomy and charmless environment.
So we recommend this hotel only if you leave the site early in the morning (that's what we did) to walk through the city and come back as late as possible.
It is therefore an average 4 stars with no bad nor good surprises. Nothing romantic in it. Their advertisement says "Not just another hotel". I would say "Just another hotel"....
