For the past couple of years, all the hotels we have stayed in have been picked using Tripadvisor reviews. I go through the top 10 of any location and then look at location & price. Out of 187 reviews, 179 reviewers have given this hotel 5 stars but unfortunately, this time I was really disappointed.

The pluses first:

- It is immaculately clean (but shouldn't all hotels be?)
- The location is really excellent - it's in a very nice area, close to the Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain, metro stations & also right beside the best shopping area.
- The restaurants that reception recommended were really excellent.
- The bathroom was lovely and very spacious.

The problems:

- We had interrupted, uncomfortable sleeps for our whole stay - there were a number of reasons for this.

The walls are very thin and you hear everything around you, above, below, outside.
The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable, we both got sore backs and necks.
There is no Do Not Disturb sign on the door so we were woken by housekeeping on a couple of occasions.

Rest is really important on holiday and also when you're on a city break and you walk for miles everyday. I have to say this had a profound effect on our trip.

- The rooms are small.
- One of the reception staff seems annoyed to be asked anything at all to the point where I was beginning to believe I had somehow offended him.
- The breakfast was really unimpressive.

I'm sorry to say I would not stay in this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone else.

“Friendly hotel in superb location”

My husband and I came for our first visit to Rome in September 2005 and wanted to stay in a part of the city where we could walk to major sights- well the Concordia is in a great place-it was lovely to walk back via the Trevi fountain each evening, even saw a bride and groom on night having some amazing wedding photos!
Rooms are small- as to be expected in the older quarters of the city but immaculately clean and well fitted furniture makes them very comfortable.
Breakfast on the roof terrace- you can just see the dome of St.Peters in the distance.

Just returned from a delightful 3 night stay in the Concordia. Stayed there because of previous reviews and was not disappointed. The Hotel very clean with friendly and helpful staff. The Hotel is in walking distance for everything. Most things on the doorstep you need for an Italian experience.

My son and I stayed in the Concordia for three nights in February and can thoroughly recommend it. It's conveniently located in the heart of Rome (The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain are only minutes away). It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Our room had two single beds and size-wise was ample for the two of us. The reception staff - all men - were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent english. There was no deposit payable for the room safe. We used the mini-bar for a few soft drinks but when I mentioned these at check out there was no charge. Breakfast is served from 7am and there is a wide selection of food to choose from. We checked out at 6.15am on the last day and the receptionist seemed pained that we were leaving without having breakfast. He was prepared to personally go the kitchen and put on the hot water so that we could have something to drink. We were in a hurry however so we had to decline whereupon he produced a tray of just delivered breads and croissants and insisted we take some with us. Excellent service. This is a hotel that will be my first choice when I return to Rome.

“Great rugby weekend !!”

Came over to watch the 6 nations rugby in Rome, with a group of friends and totally enjoyed the experience.
This was our second stay at the Concordia,(thanks to the rugby!)and nothing has changed. The rooms were still very clean, the staff extremely welcoming, the standard of the breakfast more than acceptable, considering its continental.
Tony, London-born, is stiil there to welcome and direct us Brits.
