For the past couple of years, all the hotels we have stayed in have been picked using Tripadvisor reviews. I go through the top 10 of any location and then look at location & price. Out of 187 reviews, 179 reviewers have given this hotel 5 stars but unfortunately, this time I was really disappointed.
The pluses first:
- It is immaculately clean (but shouldn't all hotels be?)
- The location is really excellent - it's in a very nice area, close to the Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain, metro stations & also right beside the best shopping area.
- The restaurants that reception recommended were really excellent.
- The bathroom was lovely and very spacious.
The problems:
- We had interrupted, uncomfortable sleeps for our whole stay - there were a number of reasons for this.
The walls are very thin and you hear everything around you, above, below, outside.
The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable, we both got sore backs and necks.
There is no Do Not Disturb sign on the door so we were woken by housekeeping on a couple of occasions.
Rest is really important on holiday and also when you're on a city break and you walk for miles everyday. I have to say this had a profound effect on our trip.
- The rooms are small.
- One of the reception staff seems annoyed to be asked anything at all to the point where I was beginning to believe I had somehow offended him.
- The breakfast was really unimpressive.
I'm sorry to say I would not stay in this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone else.
