My husband and I stayed at the Fellini Inn in mid-May for six nights. As many others have mentioned, the location was fantastic - extremely central to everything. We walked everywhere from the hotel, including the Coliseum and the Vatican (though it was a lengthy walk!).

There are many positives about this hotel, but I will also comment on some of the things that disappointed us. As I say, we would stay here again, however, there are a few things I would've liked to been made aware of prior to our initial visit.

As many have indicated in the past, this hotel does not have a regular front desk, and so you must arrange with them in advance to ensure there is someone available to greet you upon arrival. The initial communication with the hotel was great - we spoke with Claudia who arranged to meet us at the hotel in the afternoon. I had read on this board and in other reviews that the hotel was very hard to find, and so when we traveled down the street from the Metro station, I foolishly stopped at the first marker for the hotel - a small sign outside a large door (incidentally, at the hotel address). Long story short, after much confusion and consternation, we discovered that there is a receiving desk BESIDE the hotel, which is very well marked as the hotel entrance.

So the moral of this story is this - the Fellini is now much easier to find than before, so make sure you keep going until you find the proper hotel entrance :-)

Once we arrived at the right place, we were greeted by Maria - having discovered that Claudia no longer works for the hotel. Maria was very friendly and gave us a wonderful introduction to the hotel and Rome, which certainly made us feel better after our ordeal of trying to find the place!

The room itself was very clean, albeit extremely small (and we travel a lot and are used to European rooms, but this one was tiny). It was also extremely warm, even in mid-May. We had an air conditioner control in our room, but were told that the air conditioning wasn't turned on until June. It was over 25 degrees outside, so you can imagine we weren't impressed to hear that. We were able to get some relief by keeping the window open during the day, but it's not a practice I like to maintain in hotels in foreign cities!

Note about maintenance of the bathroom - they don't change the towels regularly, unless you put them on the floor to indicate they require changing. Our toiletry supplies were never restocked in the six nights we were there, and we ran out of toilet paper twice, which is something that has never happened to me before at a hotel!

The breakfasts were adequate - we ate muesli, yogurt and fruit every morning and it was certainly enough to get us going. The coffee was fine as well - they must have gotten a cappuccino maker recently as I recall reading a number of reviewers complaining about the coffee prior.

The staff are for the most part, extremely friendly, though I will say there was one girl there that really looked like she'd much rather be anywhere else, doing anything else other than working there. It was unfortunate as the other women were very pleasant, but this one girl never cracked a smile in the all the time we were there.

One of the major highlights of this hotel is the rooftop garden. I spent quite a bit of time up there soaking up the sun and reading my book, resting my feet after a long day's sightseeing. It provided a wonderful respite and break before dinner.

I did think the price was a bit much for what we got, however, I found out after we booked that I got seriously ripped off, and I'm not sure where the blame lies. I don't think it was the hotel, but instead Venere, where we booked. I usually always book through the hotel web site, but didn't find it until AFTER our reservation was already made through Venere. We paid 170 Euro for our double room, and the rate on the back of the door stated the maximum price for that room should be 160 Euro. Now, I paid the hotel directly for this, so perhaps it was on the hotel's end, I'm not sure. But it really left a bad taste in my mouth when I saw that we paid more than the stated price on the back of the door. I blame myself for not further pursuing this, but honestly, at the time, I was just grateful that I was able to find *any* accommodation in Rome as it had been quite difficult. However, I would forewarn anyone booking through Venere to be aware of extra fees or charges and if possible, to book directly with the hotel instead.

So, overall, I would recommend the Fellini, but take note of those few words of advice above. We would definitely stay again, simply because of the location and the cleanliness of the rooms, above anything else.

The location of this hotel is excellent, it is very central to most attractions, the staff, maria, & claudia were very helpful. however the room was a bit of a let down, after what we were paying, about 180 euros . The triple room is on the ground floor, and it is even a security hazard, as there was a break in in the hotel lobby, adjacent to our room, it was unerving.

My adult daughters and I stayed 9 nights in the 4th floor "apartment" at the Fellini. A bit cramped, and the bathroom is at the end of the apartment, so there is no privacy in the tiny bedroom. However, the staff was great and the location can't be beat! 2 blocks to the Trevi Fountain, a 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps (and Via Condoti shopping), close to a bus stop and a metro station (which is great except when they're on strike).
Mostly we walked, averaging 10-12 miles per day. Come prepared with good walking shoes!
The Traforo Wine Bar at the end of the block was a welcome respite at the end of a long day of sightseeing, with decent prices for our daily nightcap. And the San Crispino gelato shop (supposedly the best in Rome) is very close to the Trevi Fountain. We also found a couple of excellent restaurants very close by, and recommend the Birreria Peroni for great food reasonably priced.
Overall, the Fellini apartment was pretty basic as rooms go, but the location and the staff make it definitely worthwhile!

We stayed at Fellini's for 3 nights. It was fun! We trully appreciate Claudia's assistance. She gave us a lot of good recommendations. In general, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast delivery at the room was punctual and excellent!
Great location! Close to train station/bus service, and walking distance to many attractions in Rome. We felt save.
We will stay there again.

The girl who met us upon arrival, Maria, was extremely nice and helpful. Our room was like a small suite with a small dining table and loveseat in one room and the bed in another room. The living area also had double doors that opened up to a small veranda. Although the view wasn't spectacular, it was still nice to have. All of this was more than we were expecting. Our room was clean and very quiet. We rarely saw any other people. It is in a great location, only minutes from Trevi and a subway stop. All major sites are w/in walking distance, but I recommend taking the subway to the Vatican. The breakfast staff was very accomodating and let us in early as we needed to leave before breakfast hours started. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.
