“Just fine”

Marghera Hotel

Oct 3, 2007

I reserved two double rooms for my friends and I. I was at this hotel three nights and my friends 5. I thought my room was rather nice and thought we'd lucked out. My friends had a room that was a bit more beat up looking (the walls were scuffed) and looked out over an air vent that apparently smelled bad. My friends had a problem with the faucet and with their shower. The people in charge came straight away for the shower and my friends didn't tell them about the tap, so nothing was done (but that's our fault). They also had a problem with a spray air freshener thing. The management did not know how to turn it off and said it couldn't be done, but my friend found a way to do that. I think they found the room to be too expensive, but I think it's par for the course in Rome. My only personal comment is that I reserved the room with a credit card and they charged the card without asking me. I'd seen the reviews here and brought cash and would have prefered to pay that way. The location is ideal for airport arrivals. The train arrives 200m from the hotel, and that eliminates a lot of stress. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the Colosseum.

“Nice Hotel. But THE SAME OLD "CREDIT CARD MACHINE IS BROKEN" Routine!”

Marghera Hotel

We booked the Marghera online with our credit card and only planned to stay one night.

we only had two major problems:

1) On arrival we were treated to an Italian "opera", a true tear jerker, the lady at the desk started to almost cry and say over and over (in a sing song voice) how: "The Credit Card a machina no a work" followed by "you don't a believe me? I a showa you" and finally by "Sunday in a Italy is a no a good! nothing a works!"

after fighting with them for 10 minuets we gave up and decided to pay by cash

2) There was a little bit of mold on the ceiling in the bathroom above the shower.

The neighborhood wasn't the best but there were plenty of people /tourists around.

Other than that the rooms were really nice! the bed was comfortable, they had a nice big flat screen TV and there was not too much noise.

The hotel is a 30 second walk from termini which help you catch your train on time, and other than the opera performance the staff was pretty nice, the owner however barely understands English and is a little apathetic.

We chose this hotel primarily because of its proximity to the "Termini" since we needed to catch the train to the airport the next day.

I wonder if at all times in all of Italy the "credit Card Machine" is always broken? (LOL, a reoccurring problem throughout our stay in Italy)

We are 30 year old Male and Female couple and stayed at the Hotel Marghera. This was a Very well located as it is right next to Termini station and the service was really nice, breakfast was nice and staff were friendly. The use of Silver in the breakfast room was astounding. The staff at this hotel were friendly especially Paolo who was very helpful.
Only critisism i had there was no bottle opener supplied with the mini fridge but its not life or death. If you stay at this hotel i am sure you will enjoy it even if it is only for a couple of days. Its Clean, friendly and well located.

“Nice small hotel”

Marghera Hotel

Stayed here in July 2006. We booked impulsively when passing, because we were very disappointed with the hotel we had at the time.

Rooms are very nice; our room had a nice looking bed and a sofa. Large nice bathroom, but there was a leak in our bathroom. Water was leaking on the floor when we uses the shower, and by the mouldy smell it had probably been there for some time.

Breakfast room was clean and nice looking, but the staff had a bit problems coping with all the guests - one morning there was no bread, no ham and no juice when we arrived, and it took some time before we got something to eat. But staff was very friendly.

The hotel is close to Termini, and that was very convenient for us, because the taxi drivers were striking most of the time, so it was impossible to get a taxi.

Nice hotel where I would gladly stay again, but in another room without water leaking at the bathroom and the mouldy smell from it!

Marghera Hotel

Rude and uninterested front desk staff. Strange how the credit card machine broke the morning we had to checkout, meaning a dash to an ATM for cash. Beds were showing their age and the shower was so small that turning around was almost impossible. AC worked well enough. Only plus was its location: two blocks to Termini station. Not a terrible hotel, but would not come back.
