My wife and I had a great time in Rome.The Hotel Zara is a great location for all major sights in the city area.The Vatican City was the furthest, but it was only a No64 bus ride away, that took 20 minutes.
The young Indian man on the desk was most helpful everytime we/I had a queirie.He spoke fluent English, Italian and probably a couple of other languages.
The room we had was air conditioned, tiled flooring and very well kept each day when we were out and about.
The Hotel does not do lunches or dinners, but we were B&B anyway. I feel you see more of the city if you go out for lunch and dinner anyway.
I have read some of the other reviews and cant see where they can gripe,honestly. It's a city hotel that offers all the needs of the city tourer.
If I had one suggestion to improve the Hotel service, it would be this. The tall Italian waitress who served most mornings, she was around 47-50 years
old,I think, should smile more,thats my only criticism.

Stayed there on middle of June of 2004. The hotel was booked by a friend and expected to be a nice place, not deluxe but nice according to the price.
The rooms were so small you could hardly move with 2 people in it. The shower in one was a curtain and drain right on the floor, the beds SO HARD that the floor would have made a better bed. The electrical power went off when turning the air-conditioning on and stayed off for the weekend. The answer I got when complaining was that no technician till Monday. WOULD NOT RECOMEND IT AT ALL!!!!!

Spent two lovely nights at the Hotel Zara. The room (a double) was huge, clean and quiet. The hotel is within walking distance (10 min.) to the Termini train station and the Metro (enables you to connect all over Rome very quickly). The breakfast was okay not very big, but fresh. The only problem was the front desk staff, not very friendly and/or helpful. Would stay there again based on the location alone.

Gosh, I stayed at the hotel Zara with my mother and my niece about three years ago and found it quite enchanting, our room was really large, and the staff was delightful and very helpful, you could not beat the location,our room was totally quiet at night as the hotels wall are so thick, and our large room waslocated at the back, I dont care if things were a bit worn, for goodness sake you are itn the very center of Rome,to be able to walk to all the magnificent sights and to sit in the Piazza Navarone in the evening, I wouldnt have traded places with anyone else, thank you hotel Zara
