A real class act. Great location next to Borghese Gardens, off the Via Veneto. Service outstanding, beds comfortable. Huge dressing area and ample bath.

Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment - rarely ready at opening time, with small assortment of hot & cold items. I would have expected a bit more. It took a long time to get a cup of coffee! (And I am a bear until I get it.) Room had no view to speak of, and was, itself, very small.

However, I would definitely stay here again!

My partner and I had a three night stay in the Splendide. A friendly hotel that is ideal for those that want quality and a quiet nights sleep at a good price. I would not say it was 5 star quality but it was spotlessly clean (if a little worn around the edges) and the staff were helpful and efficient. Our room looked onto a courtyard so we had very little natural light, but anybody who comes to Rome to hang around in their room is bonkers. A benefit of having a courtyard view is a decent nights sleep. Be aware that a lot of roads in Rome are cobbled so the traffic noise can be terrible.

The hotel is in a great position for getting around and seeing the sights, but like many of the upmarket hotels on or near the Via Veneto, its at the top of the hill, so ladies, leave your heels at home.

The top floor has a rather swish restaurant and a good bar. The breakfast room too has good views across the city.

Previously we have stayed in the Marriott Grand Flora which is much grander but three times the price and also the Majestic, again more expensive but not as good as the Splendide. I would recommend this hotel as good value for money and a warm welcome to all.

We stayed at this hotel 27th - 29th December 06. This is a first rate Hotel. The position is well within walking distance of all the major sites and is within easy reach of some top class restaurants.

The rooms are furnished to a very high standard. Bathrobes and slippers and a high standard of toiletries are available in the superb bathrooms.

Breakfast is what you would expect for a Hotel of this standard, with a good choice of hot and cold. The view from the breakfast terrace is stunning.

Our only criticism and our reason for not giving this hotel a 5 rating is the lack of a bar. The existing bar is linked to the very formal restaurant and if you are casually dressed you feel a little uncomfortable. Otherwise top marks.

We stayed here in early December 2006, as a last minute break. We had a room on the back without a view, but we had come to see Rome not stay in our room, and the room was still spacious and luxurious by any standard with a lovely bathroom, and sound-proofed, so although you are in the middle of Rome [which is really really busy], you can still get a good night's sleep after a tiring day.
The hotel is in a perfect location, near the beautiful Borghese gardens. We took taxis to wherever we wanted to go, Vatican etc etc, then walked back quite easily, stopping at whatever else caught our eye - there's so much to see we'll definitely be back and would stay here again.
The standard of this hotel is very high, and the staff are also extremely helpful. You get the impression that they like to help and aren't just doing it for the tips, like some hotels.
Highly recommended.

My wife and I spent six of our twelve honeymoon days at this absolutely first class, wonderful property in Rome based on reviews on this site. Since we are middle aged and figure that we only have this one honeymoon left in us we opted to go all the way and got one of the terrace one-bedroom suites. We ended up with a corner suite on the 5th floor - about 1k per night but worth every penny. The terrace which overlooked the Borghese Gardens was as large as the room. We spent every eveing there watching the sunset with a bottle of wine while we rested our worn out feet.

Everything was just great starting with the impeccable service (whatever you asked for was there almost immediately), the nice touches in little gifts of chocolate or a welcoming bottle of wine. Service was excellent in all respect. The hotel is a small boutique but the common rooms are uncommonly elegant. A number of reviews spoke about how expensive the hotel's Mirabelle Restuarant is - we thought it a bargain. Great views of Rome from the terrace - food as close to perfection as we have ever had (and we've eaten in some of the world's best) - we ate there twice.

Great location minutes from the Spanish steps and tourist transportation , but oh, so quiet - very unusual for a well located hotel in Rome.

From the truth in advertising department, the buffet breakfast gets a bit old after several days - good quality food but a bit limited in selection, but just a bit. And we think that they could use a dedicated concierge for tourist type questions - the reception people appear to double for the role and while they seem quite knowledgable, they are pretty busy sometime.

Would we (and will be) stay here the next time in Rome (and there will be many next times) - in a heartbeat.
