This was the second time I have ever stayed in a hostel (after staying in a dump) and it was a great surprise. The staff at the front desk was very friendly. The rooms were spacious, bright, and clean, as were the bathrooms. The lockers were a great size and I was able to fit my entire bag. The hotel... more

Hostel is in a great location - 5 min walk from train station, so easy to get around. Area felt pretty safe and there was a couple of OK restaurants around the area but you really have to go to north or south of Rome for good food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a 4 person... more

Hostel- Alessandro is great for backpackers. Although I would recommend requesting a room closer to the ground floor since the flights of stairs are horrendous especially with a 30 lbs+ bag on your back. Staff- OK. When we arrived, the hostel was completely swarmed by backpackers so the staffs were quite occupied and not that accommodating. We were allowed to... more

Terrible value for double rooms- 100 euros per night for a horrible room with old dirty furniture, very musty and towels & sheets that looked like roman relics. Safe, fridge & airconditioner all broken during our stay. We left early to stay in a lovely hotel down the road for the same price & could not get a full refund.... more

We were on a stag doo so you can imagine the level of tom foolery this place deals with on a regular basis, but there was absolutely no problems at all. The rooms were basic but clean. Only small problem was the air conditioning didn't come on till 11 at night so if you were in the room during the... more

We stayed in a 8 person dorm... The location is good, although could be conceived as seedy after night fall... 5min to Termni station and walkable distance to most attractions, although still a fair hike! The bar was good fun and good value for drinks, although there wasn't much around the area to do once the bar closed, was a... more

I spent 4 nights here in February 2008. The hostel has a good location 5-10 mins walk from Termini which is really convienient for arriving/departing and also if you want to use the Metro for getting around. The room (I was in 11, a 6bed ensuite dorm) was fairly small but it was clean as was the bathroom. The only... more

Do not stay here. We booked this hostel well in advance - a private room. When we got there and after overcharging us for our room, the staff gives us the key and we go to our room. It turns out it is a room with four other guys in bunk beds with a double bed in the middle for... more

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Alessandro Palace and it was brilliant! The rooms were lovely - all with air con which in 40 degree heat was great! The staff were all really friendly and helpful and upon our arrival gave us a map and great directions. Beware the air con though - about 4.30am each morning... more
