This hotel was $150 nightly, but any place in America it would rent for $50 nightly. Probably a nice hotel back in the twenties and thirties. Stayed for Four days this July. Front desk very very unhelpfull, never experienced anything like it. a/c not working first two days, room safe not working, requested they change did so after 2 days, new one had no battery, asked but nothing done, they suggested 'we have a drawer in reception' sure... no toilet paper in room!! until requested! wallpaper... more

Before I went to Rome on a family holiday, I had looked on this site and was slightly apprehensive. It turns out that I had absolutely no need to be! We only stayed 2 nights. The first room that we had booked, a family room, was baking hot and the aircon was exactly that, a con, totally ineffective. Good Points:- Room was huge - far bigger than we expected for the money. Room was clean, water was hot etc. Breakfast was fine as were the waiting staff. The hotel is well situated, but the front of house staff could not give a damn about their guests. The air conditioning was not turned on centrally, but it could not have been used in the room (401) anyway as the unit was too noisy. The Gallia Hotel is in a superb location - 5 mins walk from the termini station (although I didn't realise when I arrived and got screwed by a taxi man - so be warned) 5-10 mins from pretty much everywhere else - Collosseum, Trevi Fountain etc. Hotel was very clean and very quiet.
