This is a basic, no frills hotel. The location is good for walking to the Rome highlights, however a little difficult to initially get to as it is likely too far a walk from the Termini train station. A taxi from the Termini will rob you blind. Take a city bus for 1 EU from the train station or maybe... more

My wife planned this trip so I am writing the reviews ;-) The hotel was nothing special but I mean it in a good way. It was close to the centre but not loud, the rooms were small but clean, the price was acceptable. Iwould tell my friends to stay here if they are not looking for the ultimate romantic... more

This was my fourth stay at Hotel Diplomatic, and it was just as good as the first. On my first trip to Rome back in 1997, while walking through the airport on my arrival, a guy gave me a piece of paper as I walked past him and said, "If you need a good hotel try this one". Well, I... more

We were a bit worried when we saw the entrance which is very small and unassuming, but the rooms were just great. Very tasteful and elegant old world decor and lovely bathrooms. The breakfast too was super and the service staff so friendly at all times. The location saved us a bunch on transport as we could walk to almost... more

For the price we paid this Hotel is pretty near spot on. Clean large room with nice carpets and drapes, very large comfortable bed and a full sized bath. (room 405) Room is on the back of the hotel so dark only having one window in the seperate sitting area. Location, you can walk anywhere withing 20 minutes including the... more

Hotel had been recomended by friends so we were reasonably confident that it would be ok. It was much better than ok. We had a king size bed in a large room on the second floor. Room had a large sofa, table and chair. Mini bar was well stocked and very reasonably priced. The bathroom had a good supply of... more

We stayed at the Diplomatic for 3 nights when we arrived, then we returned after touring the Naples area. The hotel entrance is nothing to brag about. Perhaps a lively color on the walls, some colorful art, or some plants would make it appear more appealing. The room was quite spartan but a nice size and clean. The shower was... more

This hotel is an amazing value for the money. Good location, very near the St. Angelo Bridge, with upscale rooms with marble bathrooms and a tub! Breakfast was also a bit more generous than we experienced at other, more expensive, hotels in Rome. more

Having read a number of mixed reviews on the Hotel Diplomatic I had my concerns but decided to keep an open mind and I wasn't disappointed. The hotels location has to be its main feature, nearly all of the main sights are within walking distance and for those that aren't a bus stop is conveniently situated outside the hotel entrance!... more

We had a "National Lamppon" experience with the Hotel Diplomatic. After a long drive from Sorrento, and circling around the hotel/Rome trying to find a place to park to check in, we finally got into the hotel only to find out that they gave our room away because we got there after 12 noon and it was their "high season".... more
