We were very surprised that anyone had positive things to say about this hotel. We stayed for four days this past month and were very unhappy with the hotel. The location was perfect and the staff very friendly but the hotel definately was not a four star hotel, even by European standards. The rooms were claustrophobically small and very "old... more

The Sofitel Villa Borghese is simply the best boutique Hotel in the centre of Rome. The staff is incredibly friendly and the location is perfect - 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps but also only 5 minutes away from the “tourist inferno”. The roof bar is very hip with an unbeatable view of the whole city of Rome including the... more

We have now stayed at the Sofitel in Rome on two separate vacations (October 2008 and January 2009), and we will return as many times as our coins in the Trevi Fountain allow. The hotel is absolutely first-class, especially by European standards that we have presumed by using Tripadvisor. We have always felt extremely safe and comfortable staying there with... more

Had 2 days in Rome to recover from the long flight from Australia before travelling on. Prime importance was a very quiet room and good bed and no hassles from hotel staff. The rooms are soundproof and very luxurious, the bed was heaven and the location for sightseeing was excellent being close to the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and a... more

My husband and I couldn't have been happier. The hotel was lovely, the staff was friendly, attentive and always available when we wanted candid advice/suggestions. I did take a previous poster's advice and asked for a nice view of the gardens, which also provided a view of Vatican City (stunning)! more

After having stayed in Sofitels in London and New York, the brand has become my favourite in the $300-$500/night range. The location of the Sofitel Roma is quite good - about a 5-10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, but still in a quiet immediate vicinity. Like all Sofitels, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Only complaints -... more

The location can not be beaten. Central to everything for the walking crowd. The staff is very friendly and speak English well. Very willing to give directions, suggestions for any questions that you may have. The room was well appointed and rather smallish but adequate. They pack it with everything you could need or possibly fit in the room! Service... more

We stayed at the Sofitel Roma for three days in May 2009 as the starting leg of our honeymoon. The staff was very friendly to greet us and was great at helping us with directions and recomendations. The room was decorated nicely and was unique as it was at the end of the building with windows on three sides. There... more

It's a 5-star Sofitel in a turn of the century building – pretty much as you’d hope and expect. I personally loved the location: near the park, Spanish Steps, and Via Veneto and a 10 minute stroll to the old town. The building façade is spectacular. The lobby area is a little disappointing but the much heralded roof terrace is... more

We booked two rooms at this hotel from Dec 20 - Dec 25 2007. Our choice was based on the TripAdvisor Luxury Hotel reviews. I have stayed at Novotels in Canada, and really wanted to try the Sofitel. The hotel is located near the Spanish Steps (5-10 minute walk). There are many excellent, albeit expensive, restaurants in the vicinity. The... more
