After staying in very nice hotels in both Venice & Florence we were disappointed in the Palatino. Dirty carpets, room needed painting, very poor TV reception and very mixed service. Comfortable beds and a clean bath. We found one concierege who was great but others who literally could not be bothered. Breakfast was included every day but was poor. The... more

This hotel is adequate for travellers. In no universe should it ever be classed as 4 star though. At the recommendation of others we requested a top floor room as I understand these have been rennovated. Instead we got a 5th floor room. Room was standard and clean. No tea and coffee facilities. What was ridiculous was no iron in... more

The best thing to be said about this hotel is its location, literally around the corner from the Colosseum, and one block to the train station, also plenty of bus stops nearby. However, the concierge staff was completely indifferent to us, not sure if it was because we are Americans, but most of the staff seemed bothered by us, no... more

The hotel was nice, and I found the staff to be nice. The best thing about this hotel was the location. It is about a 5 minute walk to the metro and the colosseum. We did the sightseeing bus with 2 lines (red line and blue line) for 18 euros each for 2 days (9 euros/day) and the hotel was... more

I had the occassion to stay at the Grand Palatino on 2 different occassions in May. I spend 6 months out of the year staying in hotels so I have a good base to judge. The customer service at the front desk was non-existent. There is no warm italian hospitality but rather a front desk staff with a serious attitude... more

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April, 2009. Within walking distance to St. Peters in Chains church, Coloseum, Forum & Capital building. Had dinner one night at the hotel - very good pork roast. Had a room on the street side of the hotel. Since it was only April, the air conditioning was not yet turned on and... more

Nice hotel with a great location in Rome---walking distance to metro, Colosseum and Forum. Breakfast nothing special but had lots of options. Do not eat at the restaurant next door; overpriced with mediocre food. There was an excellent family run restaurant on the street behind the hotel, just adjacent to the metro entrance with reasonable prices. The house wine was... more

My husband and I decided to plan a trip to Rome and do it "on our on". We didn't want to be locked into a tour group so I researched hotels on Trip Advisor and in the Frommer Day by Day books. I discovered this hotel on the trip advisor website. I knew I wanted something that was close to... more

We stayed at the Palatino for 4 nights in April and are very pleased with our stay. Nice breakfast ( slightly confusing since it is spread out around the breakfastroom...) Close to the metro and in walking distance to many great sights. The staff was a bit ignorant but helpfull when you finally got their attention. The room was nice... more

BEWARE!!! This hotel looks AMAZING on its website-Beautiful pictures with updated rooms. This is what you see on the first floor! When you stay on the 3rd/4th/5th floor, like we did, what you get is a room that is a small, old, and in desperate need of a good cleaning and some paint. I was willing at first to overlook... more
