I've just returned from spending three nights at Hotel Ripa and I'm full of praise for it and the staff. Having been to Rome of a few previous occasions I would say that this hotel offers superb value for money. The location is ideal, far enough away from the centre not to be too busy, or overpriced but close enough... more

I was placed in an "extension room" rather than what they call an "executive suite" as I booked through Hotels.com and not directly through hotel Ripa. Their extension rooms are in terrible condition with stained worn out carpet, terrible showers, and hard beds. The regular executive rooms seem ok. Be careful booking through a discount website as you will get... more

Overall, the hotel has a nice design in the breakfast area and the staircase is probably the best feature of the hotel. Also, the location is great because you can avoid getting a taxi from the airport and instead get the rail from the airport for just over 5 Euros bringing you to Trastevere which you can then just jump... more

The hotel is in a good location, just a couple of minutes from the Trastevere cable-car taking you to the center of Rome. Overall, the hotel is not bad, but surely the room we were given can by no way be compared with the pictures shown on the website. This is what happens usually, but the Ripa is supposed to... more

This is the second time we stayed at the Ripa (August 08). The previous time was in July 06. Obviously we returned because we had liked the hotel. But we did find the hotel in a bit of a worse shape than our previous visit. As other reviewes say, the first time it took us a little to find the... more

I stayed here in March 2008 and was very disappointed with the hotel. We stayed in a essential room which was not refurbished. The heating did not work, we had a hole in the front door, wires hanging out where electrical works should be and there were holes in the bathroom wall. more

What a disaster!! This hotel is really really hard to find. Directions from the website are totally useless. We took the H bus and got off at the stop outside the white building. So far so good.............NOT! We walked around for ages trying to locate the hotel, rang them to tell them where we were but was told it was... more

Initally the hotel was difficult to find. I took the train from Roma Termini to Trastevere station, but from there the bus route dumped me in the rain at an intersection for which I had no clue how to get to the hotel. I hailed a taxi and he chuckled and said oh yes, I know where it is and... more

Quirky hotel in the far south side of the Trastevere district. Looks like a standard appartment house (and a boring one) from the outside, but quite cool inside. The majority of the staff do their best to stay with the decoration, ie cool and unfortunately not too friendly. Do spend the money on a better than standard room, as some... more
