My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel with his parents a couple of years ago and we felt almost traumatised after the experience - it was pokey, grotty and entirely unpleasant. The duvet covers looked filthy and smelled of stale smoke and you could hear everything in the next door room. The bathroom was grotty and in our room... more

1. I booked at the Monet. Neither I nor the taxi driver could find it. After entering 1-2 hotels to ask where the Monet was, I was surprised to find my name listed at the Van Gogh on number 37 of the same street. 2. They guy at the desk told me that I can stay there (well, he had... more

I had booked a single room in Hotel van Gogh before finding this website. Imagine my shock reading all the negative remarks. I seriously considered cancelling my booking and look for another hotel! Now I must confess that I was absolutely DELIGHTED with Hotel van Gogh. I agree with all reviews that this hotel is small. Do not expect a... more

I honestly thought that the crit on this website was unfair, and thought i'd give it a go. Firstly, when we got there the hotel was so narrow, we had problems wheeling our luggage through the corridor. The reception desk is on a corner turn on the stairs - so if you were talking to reception and someone came up... more

Not as bad as some reviews, but not the greatest hotel in Rome by any means. Very good location. We had adjoining rooms with our son and daughter in law. They had a good impresssion too. Close to Metro Line A station. Staff was helpful, especially Glenda. Owner is absentee so I imagine service can vary. We stayed two days,... more

We just returned yesterday from a 3 1/2 week stay in Europe. This was the worst place we stayed in. First, let me tell you, we have been Innkeepers in the U.S.A. for the past 9 years. I would be embarassed to operate a place like this. First, the location is great. That's the only positive. The room was so... more

I have read all the other reviews and wondered whether we were talking about the same hotel. I thought the location was excellent, the rooms small but charming, our room was clean and the towels changed every day and there were no bed bugs in our bed which some other reviewers on this site seemed to experience. The hotel staff... more

My wife and myself booked this hotel for 3 nights through Donatello. The location is indeed perfect but the rooms are very tiny especially the bathroom(in fact a shower scantily equipped). We suffered the same bad experience than scottsdale az.: bug bites and cleaning of the room not done the last day. In fact, the hotel brochure is misleading and... more

I stayed at the annex to this hotel: the Monet Bed & breakfast. They charged me for an additional four nights during another month. They said they made a mistake and would credit me but never did...invented a million excuses and delay tactics. They delayed long enough so that I was not able to get credited. Cost me $1000. BEWARE!!!!!! more

The only thing going for this hotel is its location, which it clearly trades on for price. The rooms were filthy, as were the beds. clean towels daily, often ragged, did nothing to improve things. for £115 per night I can get an excellent room in central london. This was really poor. final touch? they would like you to pay... more
