Having travelled extensively, this has to be one of the worst 4 star hotels stayed in. Booked through Thomson, thinking it would be ok. It can only be described as 2/3 star. Expensive for what we got. Room and breakfast adequate. Cleaning leaves a lot to be desired! Bathroom needs total refurbishment. Got balcony-great!! no furniture?! Staff-surly and totally dont... more

First the good... The location is right across the street from the metro station, where you can take to subway right into the center of Rome. The hotel also has parking if you drove in to Rome. so..that was a good thing. As for the rest... I thought the staff at the front desk were kind of...well A-holes. Everytime i... more

(Review is from November 2007) My girlfriend and I were very much looking forward to our Rome trip and we didn't let the inconveniences we encoutered ruin that. The hotel was much further than we expected and we foolishly got ripped off by taking a cab. We took the metro back and if we knew about simple this was, we... more

We had booked a three night stay at the hotel for the bank holiday in May, however by day two we were checked out and booking into the Radisson hotel in the centre of Rome. Needless to say we were not impressed by the Hotel American Palace. The poor location could be forgiven (being right at the end of the... more

We booked this hotel off the back of the photos and the price before reading reviews on the hotel. This trip was our dream honeymoon to Rome and having read reviews after we had booked, we were expecting the Honeymoon from hell. Reasons for booking:- didnt want to be in the centre of Rome with all the hustle, bustle and... more

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Breakfast was not bad - coffee machine was not brilliant. Only a choice of cold rolls with ham or cheese, croissants, fruit and yoghurts. The room was very nice - we were on the 5th floor - nice and quiet apart from the room next door had people singing in it until 1am!... more

The positives: the room was clean, the furniture new, the reception staff efficient. The negatives: the (single) room was tiny. The temperature gauge on the (old) radiator was missing, the table map did not work, the door to the bathroom did not close, the windows were single glazed and rattled, the room door afforded no sound insulation and conversations at... more

Well the hotel was not a typical four star hotel but it was worth the money we paid for our room. The room was very small but clean. We also had a tv and a hairdryer in our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even ordered us a taxi without charging an extra fee for it. They... more

After reading some of the reviews about this hotel I was really worried about what I had booked throughThomson. I had bought some ear plugs (in readiness) which were helpful for those in our party who had rooms by the road. If you can,ask for a room at the back so you can avoid the road noise and these rooms... more
