We stayed at the Westin and I'll be honest and say that while the place is beautifully decorated, it is over priced for what you get. Coffee is 8 euro per person, (which is over 10 dollars) and everything else is so inflated in price that it's prohibitive to eat there. The staff wants a tip every time they smile... more

We had such a fantastic time at this Westin Excelsior in Rome! We had booked two adjoining rooms for us and our children and the rooms were large, with high ceilings, beautiful chandeliers and marble baths. The beds were super comfy as well. The hallways to the rooms were wide, well lit and lovely, and the clientelle chic. I can't... more

The room was pretty amazing with the high ceilings and decor. But for a Westin, I wouldn't say I was super impressed. The rooms do need a bit of a renovation, and the staff were not that efficient and friendly. DO NOT take their recommendations for dinner as the one they suggested for us was a major tourist trap! Restaurant... more

The Excelsior has a great location in central Rome near the Villa Borghese, and is a grand old structure. But the service, while attentive, is hotel chain variety, although there are some good exceptions at the concirge, restaurant and desk. The physical elements of the hotel are the worst -- and slipping badly, carpet is worn and dirty, bath tub... more

We stayed at the Excelsior Rome June 5th -8th. We could not have been happier. The lobby has gleaming , shiny marble and opulent chandeliers.I did not think it looked tired at all. It was old world charm to me. Mariarita checked us in. She was WONDERFUL ! She greeted us with a smile and gave us a free upgrade... more

Grand hotel in a prime location. Overall, we were pleased with our room as it was quite comfortable and roomy with a lovely marble bath. However, the guest rooms and public spaces are in need of some refurbishing as we found the carpets to be stained and walls in the hallways scuffed up. Some of the furnishings were tired, as... more

This is a lovely hotel for a family, business travelers or a couple. The location is convenient for sightseers, within walking distance to most attractions and to a metro stop. There are restaurants in the vicinity, would recommend going beyond the very first one in sight being the Cafe Paris directly across the street. It is a lovely cafe but... more

The actual experience at the Rome Excelsior paled in comparison to the brochure's vivid photos of a once grand and luxurious hotel. It is obviously past its prime and in need of sprucing up. The bed however, was up to the usual Westin standard. The Via Veneto location is beautiful and within quick walking distance to the Villa Borghese park,... more

Stayed in May over a 4 day weekend (Bank Holiday). Tried using my Starwood Gold card to get an upgrade, but unless you're related to Gianluca's uncle through a second cousin, forget it, this is Italy and Starwood should be under no illusions they can enforce any other standards! Room was shabby in an Italian baroque style, not what I... more

I am still trying to pump up my Starwood points, but based on my last couple of Westin experiences I was hesitant to book here. I am not sure if it was low expectaions or what, but I couldn't have been happier. The staff was very attentive and helpful. My room was larger than what I have come to expect... more
