We just returned from the Grand Olympic Aurum Hotel in Rome, Italy (17 June 2009 for 8 nights). The very best feature of this hotel is the location. It sits about 5 minutes from St. Peter's and the walk is pleasant, through a neighborhood of grocers, shops, and countless restaurants. The nearest Metro stop, Ottavianno, is about 10 minutes northwest... more

Good location and safe area, but area closes up early and not much to do in the surrounding area once the Vatican is closed. Mini bar was warm and told management, they said that it would be tended to, but they never did. Breakfast was absolutely terrible, and not worth hanging around for. Furnishings very old and air conditioning not... more

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Vatican and were encouraged by the generally favorable reviews from other travelers. We ended up wondering how some of the reviewers were able to find positive things to say. We did not get a great rate here (we paid nearly 300 Euros per night) so perhaps our expectations were in line... more

My party used 3 rooms for 6 nights. We were told by staff upon arrival, not to leave anything unattended at our breakfast table because of security issues. What an introduction that was. Also on the first day, in one of the rooms that was rented to us, the toilet had overflowed prior to our arrival and the bathroom was... more

My friend and I wanted to have a girlfriend getaway to Rome for 3 days and we found this hotel through a travel website. Our husbands warned us that the low price meant it would be a pretty bad place, but we decided to risk it. We were really happy with the hotel. They were expecting us when we arrived... more

We (myself, my wife, my brother, and his wife) stayed at this hotel for three nights while we were in Rome. We booked this hotel becuase we were able to secure a good rate for a single room with 4 beds in it. The location was great. The hotel was set in a very clean area and also very quiet... more

This was the first of 5 hotels on our recent trip to Italy. I found it to be adequate and clean. It was an easy walk from the Ottaviani metro stop and near the Vatican. Our room was a little larger than the average Italian hotel room and had good closet storage. I would stay here again, although I might... more

What an excellent Hotel! My friend and I stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. The hotel was well located, 5 minute walk to the metro, 5 minute walk to St. Peters. I have to commend the staff, they are the friendliest hotel staff I have ever dealt with. Rooms were a good size and spotlessly clean.... more

I regret that I haven't taken any pictures of the room during my one-week stay, infact now that I look at the images that other users posted on this I feel like I took crazy pills!! I don't quite recognize the hotel !!!! Please note that I booked 8 (!!!) rooms for my colleagues (we were in Rome for a... more

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Olympic Aurum for 2 nights. It was a good hotel if a bit bog standard compared to the other hotels we had stayed in. The staff were polite and courteous. We had a quadruple room which was a good size even for 2 adults and 2 young teenagers. The hotel had the best air... more
