Through Eternity was our choice of tour agency, and we were not disappointed. Small group (14), well working headsets, very knowledgeable guide about keeping us all together in the vast crowds, art history and general history about the Vatican, Popes and Italy. She livened the tour with historical antidotes and also spent extra time with the group; an altogether gracious... more

It's wasn't cheap, but you can't leave Roma without seeing the Sistine Chapel (but only take pictures if you're ready to be yelled at. Like us.) The design of many of the rooms, halls, and ceilings is just over the top with incredibly loud designs and an absurd melange of designs. It was glorious in it's tackiness. That's the only... more

The Vatican is an absolute must if in Rome, I’m not a religious person but it still blew me away. I recommend that you join a tour as the lines to get in stretch for miles. There is a separate line for tours and they get in before the general public. We went through viatour agency and they were very... more

We spent a day at the Vatican in mid January 2008. We originally had hired a tour guide (Angel Tours), but when they changed the tour time at the last minute from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, we decided to go it alone. (We didn't want to start our day at the Vatican that late.) We are glad we visited... more

My husband and I recently spent our first wedding anniversary in Rome. I had been to the Vatican before many years ago but had been determined to do it on my own and not to be a "tourist" take a tour. This time however as a anniversary present my parents booked us a private guide through isango. Having a guide,... more

If you love art, religion, and history, this is the place for you. You could spend a year there and not cover it all. I am not one for tours but at the Vatican it is a MUST. It will cost depending on your negoitiating skills between 25 and 40 Euros each. You can set up with a Guide in... more

We had heard that the lines to get into the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St Peter's Basilica were super long & that the venues were super crowded & hot once you were inside. However, we showed up around 2 pm on Sep 26 and walked right in to the Vatican Museum! We had absolutely no wait! The museums were... more

We visited the Vatican on our last day in Rome. We joined one of the tours touted by American guides outside I think it cost about 50 Euros for the both of us for the tour and our entry. We were lucky as it was fairly quiet that day. The guide was great, really knowledgeable and entertaining. We spent about... more

We were approached in St Peter's Square by someone offering us the option to join an English speaking tour around the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, after which we would be offered direct access to St Peter's basilica without having to join the long queue. Despite not being students we were offered the price of 56 euros for the two... more
