Very interesting to see, glad we went. Don't walk though, it's further than it looks on the Map. Go to San Giovanni on the metro or somehow get to the little bus station on the corner of Piazza di Porta San Giovanni / Via Emanuele Filiberto. Catch the 218 bus from there, this drops you off at the bottom off... more

We were there April 26, 2008. One thing to remember is that the Catacombs close at noon and reopen at 2pm. We arrived a little after noon and had to wait until 2pm to purchase tickets (6 Euros). Then we all stood around wondering what would happen next. By the way, the ticket agent was extremely surly and obvously unhappy... more

The Catacombs of St. Callixtus were truly one of the highlights of our June 2006 visit to Rome. We took the subway to Circus Maximus and then the bus and were surprised to see how close by they were.
