Pantheon may not be the most beautiful building in Rome, but it is amazing considering its age. Whereas the forum is a lovely collection of ruins, here is a building from the time of the Roman empire completely intact and still in use. The only light is provided by the hole in the roof which kids will find fascinating, especially... more
The Pantheon blew me away, we visited it every day we were in Rome. What an amazing architectural feat! it is still a functioning church, which I think sometimes gets forgotten as people were disrespectful. At times it got very busy but this didn't detract from my experience. This was probably one of my favourite places to visit in Rome.... more
Pantheon is certainly a must-see attraction in Rome. I love it a lot because (1) entrance is free (2) architecture is amazing, and (3) you get a different experience each time you visit it. I first encountered it entirely by accident one evening in a rain storm. The exterior is... more
It was raining when we went and the water came down the hole in the ceiling (the oculus). It was terrific. The area on the floor was roped off to stop people slipping and you look closely you can see small holes where the water goes down. Nice surprise to find the last resting place of Raphael. more
We went to the Pantheon on Wednesday morning, I would recommend it as a great time to go as the Papal audience happens on Wednesday morning and thousands of people flock to that. The view of the Patheon from the outside is lovely and there is also a gorgeous fountain opposite. I didn't know much about the Pantheon before going... more
