We went to the Trevi Fountain on Wednesday morning and it was definitely the best time to go as it wasnt that busy and there was loads of opportunity for photos and to toss the coins. They were a lot of flower sellers and people trying to make you pay to have your photo taken, they are very persistent but... more
You have to see this, it is amazing. We actually came back later in the day just to see it again. They say if you throw in a coin you will return to Rome -- so we threw in a bunch! I only wish we could have seen it lit up at night. more

I highly anticipated my walk to the Trevi fountain. But perhaps I had gone at the wrong time of the day....~6pm, and the place was overcrowded, so much that you would not be aware of the fountain's charm. Somehow the Trevi Fountain manages to be more than the sum of its parts. I guess part of it is the magnitude, it is pretty sizable compared to most fountains, and the sculptures make it even more impressive. I hate to say it but I think the film "Three coins in a Fountain" has probably made this attraction what it... more
